The Reflective Insulation Manufacturers Association International met for the first time in person since the fall of 2019. The meeting was held April 6-8 at the Margaritaville Hotel in Nashville, and the reunion was fantastic. Several attendees signed up for a special pre-show tour of the R&D Services state of the art testing facility in Watertown, TN, on Wednesday afternoon. From their humble beginnings in a basement to their new 5,000+ square foot facility today, they have come a long way. Co-owner and host Michael Joyce lead the tour showing the many different types of test equipment, how tests are conducted and the ultimate purpose for the various tests.
The next two days consisted of committee meetings throughout Thursday, including such topics as Advanced Building Code Coalition, Technical, Strategic Alliance, Verification, International Conference and PR/Marketing/Membership; with our full Membership Meeting, guest speaker and award presentation on Friday. In middle was a fun group outing at The Diner. Cocktails were hosted by Dunmore Corporation. It was a perfect environment for networking, building relationships with peers and meeting experts in the field. Dinner was delicious and camaraderie in abundance. A great way to end the day.
Friday’s keynote was Michael Joyce of R&D Services who presented on “When a Pass Isn’t a Pass – How Uncertainty Impacts Conformity Assessments by Laboratories”. Following brunch, a special award presentation was held. Monty Millspaugh of R&D Services, Inc. was presented with the Alexander Schwartz Award recognizing him for his significant contribution to the industry over his many years of dedication and service. This is only the third time this award has been presented.
